Is Real Value Creation Motivating Your Partnerships?
Eduvantis is spending an increasing amount of time helping clients look around their own universities to identify important new strategic opportunities to partner with their colleagues around campus–to create something that is “greater than the sum of its parts,” as they say. Partnerships across disciplines are not new, of course. But, candidly, many of them we have analyzed, well, don’t actually accomplish much of strategic value for either party. There are, however, emerging new models for how to create truly value-added partnerships–structured in service of a well-defined competitive strategy. We liked this recent article in the FT that provides some good motivation for doing this (yes, a bit long on motivation and short on specifics, but worthwhile regardless). We hope to help inspire more of this kind of thinking with our clients.
